So I think today was probably the best day of Ava’s life so far! (With the exception of the day her baby brother was born, I’m sure!) We had bought tickets a few months ago to one of the Enchanted princess parties that they hold at The Vermont hotel every couple of months. It was also my first visit to The Vermont and I was really impressed, so much so that I’ve already booked a table for us all to go for Sunday lunch on Fathers Day.
So Ava donned one of her MANY princess dresses, Rapunzel was the princess of choice today, complete with hairpiece! When we arrived we were told to make our way to the ballroom which was a lovely big room with a small stage and a twinkling dance floor. You couldn’t see very much of the dance floor however as it was covered in little girls in all their princess finery!
They have a different set of princesses at each event and today it was Snow White, Belle and Rapunzel. They were chatting and getting photos taken when we arrived and a colouring competition was underway while they were waiting for everyone to arrive. When it got started the princesses got everyone on the dance floor and did a princess dancing class. Each princess showing their signature “move”. It was amazing so see the look of total amazement and awe on Ava’s face. She just loved it. The girls were all really patient and took time to talk to all the children and hold hands etc. After the dancing they played a few games, pass the parcel, and a game a bit like corners but instead of going to each corner they all had to pick up a card off the floor when the music stopped. All the cards had characters from Disney films and Snow White shouted out the name of a character and whoever had that character won a prize.
Next it was princess makeover time where they all had their make up done by one of the princesses and finished off by some glitter. Ava loves Sparkles! Or Farkles as she calls them as she can’t pronounce “sp” in words. It makes me laugh so much when she sings Incey wincey fider. Ava and Molly had their make up done by Snow White, who is Molly’s favourite princess. She was very sweet and talked to them all throughout.
After the make up sessions the princesses all sang their song and did some more dancing. Next it was story time and Belle read the story of Beauty and the Beast to them all. Ava was enthralled and loved it.
Finally it was the Princess parade, where they all had to practise the royal wave and show the adults their new princess skills they had learned. Ava was almost obsessed with Belle the whole time, and literally followed her round the room gawping at her in awe. Belle said she was going to wash her hands after the make up session and Ava cried to go wash her hands too.
After the parade the children all lined up for a photo with the three princesses together. They waited very patiently and were so excited. Ava changed her mind every 5 seconds about whose knee she was going to sit on but eventually she sat on Snow whites knee, then Molly came to join her and she moved along to her hero Belle. Seeing their little faces was just priceless.
After photos they were given a princess certificate, a signed photo and a little bag containing a bottle of pixie dust. They were told to put a little bit of dust in their hand and make a wish and then blow the dust away and Tinkerbell would make their wish come true.
After a final wave goodbye to the princesses it was time for home. She couldn’t stop talking about them and thinking about what she was going to say to the princesses next time she saw them!
It wasn’t a cheap day out but I really thought it was worth it. The girls from Ella Enchanted were so lovely and were very patient and kind to all the children. I would definitely look at attending another one of these events as the look on Ava’s face was just heart melting. I had tears in my eyes to see how happy and amazed she was. The days where they believe in magic and fairy tales don’t last very long so we need to make the most of every one of them.
