Golden to Jasper

We actually woke up before the kids today and once they were up we went straight down to breakfast. After that it was a quick stop at the pool, Ava was very excited that there was a big water slide into the pool. The water was freezing but she didn’t care she was so excited and just wanted to go on again and again.

Hotel waterslide – again, again!

After half an hour there we got packed up and set off. Our first stop was Field, a little village just inside the Yoho National park to get something for lunch. We got a take out for later and stopped off at a natural bridge that had been caused by the water crashing down and causing the rocks to wear away creating a bridge. Ava was very impressed with the water crashing around. A few miles away from there we stopped at Emerald lake which was just beautiful. The sun was shining and the snow capped mountains were reflected in the beautiful lake. We sat at a little picnic table and ate our lunch which was delicious! With a very tired and grumpy Ava we got back in the car so they could both sleep.

The scenery was just breathtaking, the mountains looked spectacular against the bright blue sky. I felt like I wanted to take a photo every five minutes but none of them could reflect the magnificence of the scenery. We stopped at a couple of view points on the way and even managed to spot some bear by the side of the road. We got on to the Icefields Parkway route  which has got to be one of the most stunning drives to do in the world.

We finally arrived at Jasper which looked like a lovely little town with nice cafes and restaurants. Our hotel was really nice but we just got changed quickly and headed into town. We went to a little steakhouse, which had a Greek influence as a number of restaurants do in the area for some reason. Ava played happily with her magiclips and enjoyed her spaghetti.

Yum yum
