Another day out with Molly. This time we were off to the Fun Shack play area in Seaham. It’s probably one of the biggest indoor play areas I’ve been to and it was very well set up for kids of all ages, especially the under three’s which often aren’t that well catered for in these places. They also had ten pin bowling, football pitches and laser quest which we didn’t try but would be great for older kids. They loved the trampolines.
After they’d had a good run around there we left to go to Lickety Splits in Seaham town centre. Last time we tried to get in there was a queue out the door. There was a policy of don’t take a table until after you’ve ordered which is a bit unusual and also quite inconvenient when you have two 2 year olds and & 5 month old (plus bags etc) and are trying to order drinks, food etc in a very small area. But luckily we managed to get a table straight after ordering. The kids had puppy dogs (small hot dogs in a bun) which came with chunky chips & salad which pretty good value for £2.45 and the kids loved them. We just had toasties and paninis which were tasty too. After we’d finished it was on to the ice cream which was the main reason to visit. They had a great range of flavours. I’d already enquired ahead to see if they had a dairy free option for Ava so I knew we were ok to visit. They told me in the email that they always have three flavours of dairy free sorbet, but today there was only Limoncello or Pink grapefruit. Ava tried the Limoncello and it was a big hit!
She ate every bit!
I couldn’t resist one of the Easter special sundaes. It was Cinderella ice cream (with cinder toffee pieces), hot fudge sauce, sprinkled with a crushed crunchie and cream all served in half a Cadburys Easter egg! I really wanted to try the Marzipan ice cream though so I asked for half Cinderella and half Marzipan. The marzipan ice cream was delicious. I dread to think how many calories was in it but oh my goodness it was one of the nicest things I’ve eaten for a long time!

It was a little slow getting served which would put me off going on a weekend. Especially with the no table til after you’ve ordered policy. But the ice cream was great.
After we’d finished we walked along to see “Tommy”, the World War One memorial monument. A lovely sunny day out despite the howling wind!
